About This Spot

Stepping into Borda Can Andreu is like stepping back into a quiet, familiar corner of Andorra la Vella’s past. Tucked away in a historic building along the old Carrer Major, this Catalonian restaurant carries the gentle weight of tradition without ever feeling stuffy. The atmosphere here settles into a comfortable rhythm—warm and unhurried, where the aged stone walls and softly lit interiors invite you to slow down and savor the moment.

Here, dining is less about rush and more about a shared experience. The staff greet you with a sincerity that feels practiced yet genuine, quickly becoming part of the evening’s unfolding rather than mere service providers. Amid the echoes of history, the kitchen quietly crafts dishes that connect deeply with local Catalonian roots—plates that linger on the palate with a mix of familiar and unexpected touches.

The culinary journey here is marked by thoughtful pairings and generous portions that encourage sharing and conversation. The escargot, a signature of the house, arrives in abundance—a true celebration of flavor and tradition that many come specially seeking. Alongside it, the menu offers hearty yet refined options from the region, where every bite reflects a quiet devotion to quality and craft rather than flashy innovation.

Despite the layers of history in the surroundings, the mood never tips into formality or stiffness. Instead, those who gather here—locals and travelers alike—find a welcoming space to connect, be it over a glass of well-chosen cava or a delicately prepared dessert that rounds off the meal with a touch of sweetness and comfort.

For anyone drawn to places with character and soul, Borda Can Andreu is a subtle reminder that good cuisine and genuine human moments flourish best when they feel rooted and unpretentious, wrapped in the warmth of a community’s past and present.

if you want escargot done right, this is the place for you. inside of a clearly old historic building, houses some of the best escargot i have had in my life. service was not only kind, but very personable. the dishes were decent portions (excluding the escargot, which contained around 30-40 snails... yep). the lamb rack was good, but just slightly lackluster in flavor. other than that, no complaints! the dishes were presented beautifully, and the prices came out to only be around 30-40 euro a person, after ordering a drink, appetizer, and entree.

We had a delightful dinner at Borda Can Andreu. It is an old restaurant situated in a historic building, which made it a bit chilly inside. We came specifically to try the escargot, and it was exceptional. The waiter also recommended a cava to pair with it, which was equally great. Overall, we really enjoyed the atmosphere and the service.

One of the best places I have eaten in a long time. The escargot was great (although there were a ton, I recommend sharing it) the lamb was amazing and the puff pastry was to die for. My friend got the octopus and we were hesitant at first, but we're blown away by how good it was. The service was quick and both waiters were more than kind. The atmosphere is very cozy. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Andorra La Vella.

Honestly absolutely delicious. Can’t knock this place. The escargot portion is massive the lamb was lovely and the dessert we had was spectacular. No regrets

We were on a trip through Catalunya last year -June- and spent a few days in Andorra La Vella. Normally we rent an airBnb with a kitchen because we take eating seriously and we're very good cooks so we buy local food from the stores and cook our way into the local culture. BUT, we always make a point of eating in at least one local eatery. We always ask around the locals for "where do YOU eat?" Can Andreu was recommended by several locals so we went a little late, around 2:30PM. It took us a while to find the place so we were the last diners. It was a very good recommendation. The food was excellent, the beef carpaccio, the veal, etc were outstanding, the service, the entire meal was very satisfying. They made us feel welcome. The price too was really reasonable - with the usual good tip! Very good Andorra-Catalan Food from the High Pyrenees. The location is also very good, in the heart of the old city. So it's a complete enjoyment. After dinner we took a nice long three hour walk around the city. We're going back to Andorra next May or June. We'll be back! Thanks.

We were on a tight schedule before a bus out of Andorra and stopped here for lunch without a reservation. Could not have asked for more. A warming experience inside an iconic old-style Andorran house with beautiful wooden beams overhead and an old dog (‘the boss’) inside the front door. Our waiter, Matthieu looked after us perfectly, recommending excellent dishes and helping us with time-keeping — thank you. Although the snails (caracoles) are an attraction here, the cod (bacalau) was the highlight and should not be missed.

My husband and I were recommended the restaurant by a Spanish friend. We had the BEST escargot of my life and were served by Matias who was absolutely wonderful! Helped to make the experience even better! Highly recommend!
